ESRI and Trimble Mobile Government Grant

In November 2003, the GIS Division was awarded a hardware, software, and training grant valued at $14,000.00 from ESRI, the leading developer of GIS software, and Trimble, an innovator of Global Positioning System Technology. The grant is to develop a Mobile Government demonstration project that innovatively combines GIS and GPS technology to improve government processes. The GIS Division will work closely with the County's Environmental Services Department to modernize environmental codes enforcement as it pertains to the illegal dumping of solid waste. The results of the project will be published on the ESRI website summer 2004.

Rural Addressing

An ongoing project for the GIS Division is Rural Addressing. The Division assigns physical addresses in Doña Ana County, and works closely with the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority to promote responsive emergency services. The Division maintains the official streetname and address database.
