Fire Fighters, Fire Prevention Specialists, and the Fire Marshal fall under Fire Plan 5 with a 20 year retirement program (70% @ 20 years; 80% @ 22 years, 11 months).
PERA will allow you to retire with a combination of years of service and age (benefits are subject to reduction as a result) and makes allowance for both disability and duty-disability retirements
We also offer an additional retirement program, referred to as Deferred Compensation, courtesy of Nationwide Retirement Solutions. Participation is voluntary and contributions are tax deferred and the sole responsibility of the employee.
