COMMISSIONER KRAHLING, FIREFIGHTERS TO SHAVE HEADS FOR CHARITY

District 4 Doña Ana County Commissioner Scott A. Krahling is sacrificing his hair to help New Mexico children with cancer. Krahling is teaming up with several Doña Ana County firefighters to collect donations and then shave their heads in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research.

NEW LAW ALLOWS MINORS TO BE POLLWORKERS; CLERK INVITES APPLICANTS

On Monday, March 8, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson signed legislation allowing supervised minors to serve as precinct poll workers. Doña Ana County Clerk Lynn Ellins said he’s eager to start processing applications from young persons willing to serve.

NEW STUDENT ART SHOW ANNOUNCED; RECEPTION SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 12

More than 50 pieces of original student artwork from the Las Cruces Public Schools have been installed in the first-floor corridors of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces. The exhibit includes paintings, etchings and drawings. The artists range from elementary students to high schoolers. read more...

Doña Ana County’s Health and Human Services Department will partner with local AmeriCorps Vista volunteers again in 2010 to coordinate the Fifth Annual Día del Niño celebrations. ROAD/CULVERT WORK TO CLOSE WEST END OF BERINO ROAD
