ACADEMY GRADUATES EIGHT VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS
The Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department will graduate eight new volunteer firefighters during a commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in the Commissioners Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces.

COUNTY CODES ENFORCING WEED CONTROL
The Doña Ana County Environmental Codes Division is actively patrolling in search of properties with overgrown weeds. Officers normally offer property owners a window of time to come into compliance with county codes before issuing citations, but in extreme cases, citations are an option on the first visit.

COUNTY OFFICES TO CLOSE FOR LABOR DAY HOLIDAY
Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, to allow employees to observe the Labor Day holiday. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Department will be closed.

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley will facilitate dog, cat, puppy and kitten adoptions this Saturday, Sept. 1. In addition to adoptions from the shelter site, adoptions also will take place at two off-site pet adoption events.

Notice is hereby given that a quorum of the Board of County Commissioners may attend the Sustainability Summit at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012. No County policy will be formulated by members of the Board, nor will there be any discussion for the purpose of taking any action within the authority of the Board. The members of the Board will take no official vote or other action at the meeting.
The purpose of this notice is merely to inform the public that its elected members of the Board may attend the meeting.
