Doña Ana County is looking for an updated mission statement to guide preparation of its new strategic plan. A committee appointed by the individual members of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners recently completed its review of potential mission statements that had been sent in by county residents.
The committee narrowed the field to three potential options that have been posted on the county website. Organizations and individuals, including Doña Ana County employees, are encouraged to evaluate the options and send in their thoughts about the alternatives.
Comments can address all three statements or explain why one mission statement is better than the others.
The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners will consider all three options and public comments prior to taking action on a new mission statement at their regular meeting on July 24.
The three options under consideration are as follows:
"Dona Ana County's mission is to build community value by delivering services and solutions to our citizens in innovative and cost-effective ways. We will realize this mission by setting the highest standards of public safety, reliability and quality improvement -- carrying out our duties with integrity, openness, and maximum participation from our community."
"Dona Ana County's elected officials, management teams and all employees are committed to the public's safety, sustaining a governmental culture that consistently serves our communities with ethics and honesty, to promote the economic, environmental and social quality of life in our county; subject to available human, natural and economic resources."
"Dona Ana County is committed to supporting community, with ethics, integrity, and transparency, through promoting quality of life. This will be done through:
* Upholding public safety
* Promoting our local economy and businesses
* Preserving our local resources and environment
* Respecting and honoring the diversity of our community
* Encouraging community engagement
* Helping sustainable communities thrive and grow
