The Doña Ana County Environmental Codes Division is actively patrolling in search of properties with overgrown weeds. Officers normally offer property owners a window of time to come into compliance with county codes before issuing citations, but in extreme cases, citations are an option on the first visit.

Residents who choose to burn weeds as a remediation strategy must call the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority at (575) 526-0795 prior to burning and must call again after the burn is complete. Only vegetation can be legally burned, not trash.

Residents who choose to bag the weeds for disposal can purchase disposal tickets from the South Central Solid Waste Authority. A list of pricing and ticket-vendor locations can be obtained at http://www.donaanacounty.org/works/solidwaste/.
