The newly formed City of Sunland Park/Doña Ana County Interim Joint Utility Authority (commonly known as the Regional Border Authority) is soliciting letters of interest from persons with qualifications as set forth below to serve as members of the Interim Joint Authority Board.
The board's interim duties include:
- Meet at least once a month;
- Make recommendations to the City and County regarding the development of a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) for a Joint Water and Wastewater Utility, and staffing and transition considerations;
- Receive and hear developer presentations regarding all existing and proposed new developments within the confines of the JPA Interim Service Territory;
- Oversee the progress of the JPA and review the monthly reports of the City and the County water and wastewater utilities.
Once the Joint Water and Wastewater Utility Authority is fully-formed and operational, the board will set policy for and oversee and supervise the operation of a water and wastewater system and will be acting as the zoning and subdivision governing body in a designated area in southern Doña Ana County.
The authority is soliciting letters of interest from persons who are professionals with real property development or engineering experience or a background in economic development.
The position is unpaid but provides an opportunity for the person selected to be of public service to the two governments and to the southern Doña Ana County and City of Sunland Park communities.
Interested persons should respond with a letter of interest and a resume or curriculum vitae to Jaime Aguilera, Community Development Director, City of Sunland Park, 1000 McNutt Rd., Ste. G, Sunland Park, N.M. 88063. Deadline for receipt of applications is July 15, 2005.
