To accommodate last-minute property tax payments, Doña Ana County Treasurer Jim Schoonover will open his office in the County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. Schoonover reminds property owners in Doña Ana County that they have until Dec. 10 to pay their first-half property taxes before state-mandated interest and penalties begin to accumulate.
The Doña Ana County Treasurer's Office mailed out all property tax bills in late October. Property owners who did not receive bills should immediately contact the Treasurer’s Office at (505) 647-7433.
“We make every effort to notify every property owner of their tax obligations,” said Schoonover. “Inevitably, however, some property owners either don’t get the bill or they misplace it. In all cases, if they miss the Dec. 10 deadline, they will be assessed with penalties and interest that cannot be waived for any reason. We urge all property owners to avoid these expenses by making arrangements to pay their property taxes on time through our office.”
