CLEAN-UP IN BERINO FORCES ROAD CLOSURE

CLEAN-UP IN BERINO FORCES ROAD CLOSURE

A portion of Three Saints Road in Berino will be closed for up to 12 weeks beginning Friday, Jan. 18. The closure is to accommodate for clean-up crews that are working to remediate a gasoline spill from last month.
The closure will force traffic between West Berino Road and Harding Road to be rerouted onto Opitz Road.
On Dec. 13, a break in a gasoline line owned and operated by Kinder Morgan, Inc. was detected. Company officials and an investigation by New Mexico State Police revealed that approximately 250,000 gallons of gasoline had leaked into the ground.
The company is working closely with Doña Ana County and New Mexico State Police to expedite the clean-up effort and re-open the road as quickly as possible.
Warning signs are prominently posted and detour signs are in place. Motorists are advised to slow down and to expect delays in the construction area.
