COMMISSION HONORS LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION FOR WORK, SACRIFICES

Doña Ana County’s legislative delegation was honored Tuesday with individual presentations of plaques from Doña Ana County Commission Chairman Benjamin L. Rawson and County Manager Fernando R. Macias. The presentations ceremonies led off the regular meeting of the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners.

A former three-term state senator in District 38, Macias said he understands the demands on the time and energy of New Mexico’s citizen legislature, and he wanted to show each of them that Doña Ana County considers them part of its team in advancing the best interests of the county’s residents on an ongoing basis.

Rawson, whose father was a four-term senator representing District 37, said he also was appreciative of the personal sacrifices made by each of the legislators.

Honored Tuesday were Senators Joseph Cervantes, Mary K. Papen, Bill Soules and Jeff Steinborn, as well as Representatives Doreen Gallegos, Rick Little and Nathan Small.

Each was presented with an engraved Nambe dish bearing the county seal and a brief dedication and thanks to the individual legislator. Rep. Bill McCamley has been invited to attend a future meeting for recognition.
