COUNTY TO CO-HOST ‘OPIATE USE DISORDER’ WORKSHOP

Doña Ana County, along with the Doña Ana Wellness Institute, will co-host a local Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) workshop for healthcare providers to increase access and delivery of MAT for people battling opiate use disorder (OUD) in Doña Ana County.
The workshop will be held Friday, March 15 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 North Motel Boulevard, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Panelists include Dr. John Andazola, who will explain how the treatment improves healthcare outcomes, and how to reduce the stigma and bias associated with OUD.
“So many people in our county suffer from OUD, and this treatment is not only effective, it is saving lives,” said Jamie Michael, Director of the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department. “Just as we work to educate and treat other diseases, we hope to provide access to the appropriate medication for OUD as well.”
The workshop is free of charge, and space is limited. For more information, or to register, visit www.donaanacounty.org/mat.
