COUNTY INVITES PUBLIC TO ‘DAY OF PRAYER’ EVENT

Doña Ana County will host a Thursday, May 2 public event at 10 a.m. on the north lawn of the Doña Ana County Government Center in observance of National Day of Prayer.
Dist. 4 Commissioner Isabella Solis has overseen the planning of the celebration, which was recognized Tuesday with a proclamation by the Board of County Commissioners that was unanimously approved.
“I am honored that we, as a board, agreed this occasion was important to recognize all spiritual faiths within our community, as confirmed by the unanimous vote,” said Solis. “As elected officials, we must turn to our individual faiths and beliefs to seek strength when faced with critical decisions that affect all of us.”
Thursday’s event will feature Vanna Granger from Church of the Crosses, and Pastor Herb Pinney of Agape Christian Church. America Terrazas will recite the pledge in English and Spanish.
The county has arranged for a tent and chairs for the event, and cold bottled water will be available for those who attend. As part of the program, Commissioner Solis will read the proclamation that was adopted at the April 23 commission meeting.
