COUNTY SUPPORTS ‘HEARTS 4 PAWS’ PET FOOD DRIVE

COUNTY SUPPORTS ‘HEARTS 4 PAWS’ PET FOOD DRIVE

Pet food donations to assist seniors in keeping their pets healthy and fed will be accepted at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., throughout the month of February.
The effort is in support of Hearts 4 Paws, a pet food drive that collaborates with Meals on Wheels to deliver nutrition for both senior citizens and their pets.
Hearts 4 Paws donations can be made year-round at the Eastside Community Center, 310 N. Tornillo Street, for senior citizens who own pets.  No proof of income or residency is required for seniors to receive free pet food every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, while supplies last.
The donation box at the Doña Ana County Government Center is located right inside the main entrance. The public is encouraged to stop by and help the cause, and county employees are invited to participate as well. According to program organizers, storage bags such as Ziploc® or similar quart- and gallon-sized bags are needed, along with dry or canned dog and cat food.
The donation box at the government center will be picked up at the end of the month. Donations are also accepted at the City of Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave. and the Eastside Community Center.
