COUNTY TREASURER CONTRACTS NONPROFIT TO PRINT TAX BILLS

Doña Ana County Treasurer Eric L. Rodriguez awarded a new contract for tax bill printing and mailing to New Mexico nonprofit Adelante Development Center.
Adelante Development Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides support services for an estimated 65,000 people with mental, physical, and developmental disabilities, as well as seniors and disadvantaged populations, across the state. The nonprofit provides valuable business services in addition to employment for people with disabilities.
Adelante Bulk Printing and Mail division employees     The contract awarded by the County Treasurer’s Office includes printing an estimated 128,000 tax notices per year by Adelante’s Bulk Printing & Mailing division, which has run a mailing business for more than 30 years.  A majority of the employees have a disability, but still earn a wage averaging more than $11 an hour.
“I am excited to work with an organization that has such a positive impact in our community. A contract with Adelante will reinforce that impact across Doña Ana County,” Rodriguez said.
By working with Adelante, Doña Ana County helps provide jobs for people with disabilities, said Adelante CEO Mike Kivitz.  The timing of this announcement coincided with National Disability Employment Awareness Month, observed in October since 1988.
