DASO TO HOST BORDER SHERIFF’S CONFERENCE

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Enrique “Kiki” Vigil will host the spring conference and training session of the Southwest Border Sheriff’s Coalition.

The conference will kick off Monday, April 9, at the Ramada Palms Hotel in Las Cruces and will wrap up on April 11.

This year’s guest speaker is Associate Deputy U.S. Attorney General Steve Cook. In March 2017, Cook was appointed to serve as the point person on the Task Force for Crime Reduction and Public Safety – a task force created at the direction of the President to develop a nationwide strategy to reduce crime. He is the director of Law Enforcement Affairs for the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Southwest Border Sheriff’s Coalition is made up of 31 sheriff’s departments from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California whose counties are located within 25 miles of the U.S./Mexico border. Its mission is to ensure the safety and security of the southwestern border of the United States.
