DASO TRAFFIC UNIT ASSISTS TRUCKER’S TOY DRIVE

Dozens of semi-trucks will be escorted by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit this Saturday, Dec. 9, as part of the Second Annual Trucker’s Toy Drive, benefitting area children in need during the holidays.

Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. at National Truck Stop in Vado. At 10 a.m., a convoy of trucks will travel along Interstate 25 to Las Cruces, making a tour through town via Lohman Avenue and ending the procession at Border International, 2701 W. Amador.

Each truck will deliver new, unwrapped toys that will be donated to local charities. Prizes for the best decorated truck will be awarded, and photos with Santa will also be available.

The event, sponsored by Border International, is free and open to the public. For more information, call Ray Garces at (915) 478-2695.
