DEPUTIES FOCUS PATROL ON AREA KNOWN AS ‘THE WALL’

A popular desert area near Santa Teresa will be the focus of frequent patrols by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department.
The remote hills known as “The Wall” just off Pete Domenici Highway is a hot spot for off-roaders, hikers and target shooters. According to members of DASO command staff, the area is actually private property and enforcement action will be taken against those who are found to be trespassing.
For several years, the sheriff’s department has taken frequent calls related to ATV crashes and other incidents near The Wall. Its location is described as south of Pete Domenici, west of McNutt Road and north of Airport Road. Deputies say an adjacent area north of Pete Domenici, known as “North Wall” will also be under frequent patrol.
