Demonstrating inclusiveness in species diversity, cats were welcome and two participated in the competition.  In the end, dogs took all the top prizes.
Along with fellow judges, Dallas selected the dragon for first prize, the ox for second and awarded third to the trendy baby shark.
Dallas is a six-year-old giant schnauzer introduced to Doña Ana County in 2015 as an addition to the detention center’s Special Operations Response Team. He is now assigned at the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office as a drug-sniffing dog.  Doña Ana County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Bayles is his handler.
