SHERIFF SCHEDULES ADDITIONAL MEETINGS FOR PUBLIC INPUT ON CANNABIS

     Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart has scheduled additional meetings for the public to provide input about cannabis legalization.
     New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham tasked Sheriff Stewart to study proposals that could legalize cannabis. The Sheriff was among a 20-member group recently named to the governor’s Cannabis Legalization Working Group. According to the governor’s office, the committee will make recommendations based off of public input and various other proposals.
     The governor’s office expects the recommendations to be part of cannabis legislation that will be introduced during the next legislative session.
     Below is the list of additional meetings being added to obtain public input:
 

Anthony Water District 1155 N. 4th St., Anthony Wednesday, July 31st  at 6:00 p.m.
Sugies Diner 340N. Main St. Las Cruces (Downtown Mall) Wednesday, August 7th, at 10:00 a.m.
La Mesa Community Center 744 San Jose Thursday, August 15th  at 6:15 p.m.
Our Lord of Mercy Church - Hatch 117 Hartman St. Tuesday, August 20th  at 6:30 p.m.
Betty McKnight Community Center - Chaparral 190 S. County Line Dr. Monday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Hall - Tortugas 3600 Paroquia St. Tuesday, August 27th at 6:00 p.m.
Doña Ana County Government Building  (BOCC Chambers) 845 N. Motel Blvd. Thursday, August 29th at 6:30 p.m.
