After completing the 23rd and 24th Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Firefighter Academy, 28 new firefighters will be sworn in at the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony and congratulate graduates.
Dist. 2 Doña Ana County Commissioner Ramon S. Gonzalez will hold two community outreach meetings in November. To provide county updates and listen to constituents’ concerns and ideas for improvement, Gonzalez will host a casual conversation from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the City of Sunland Park Council Chambers, 1000 McNutt Road in Sunland Park.
Starting Monday, October 28, the South Central Regional Transit District will operate a new bus route, transporting passengers from Garfield, Salem, Hatch, Rincon, Radium Springs and Doña Ana to the City of Las Cruces.
The Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department hosted a non-denominational service for 16 people whose bodies were not claimed, seven less than originally planned. Initially planned for 23 people, the families of seven reached out to county personnel to claim their loved ones’ cremains, shortly after the recent release of information and list of names.
Doña Ana County residents are encouraged to dispose of unused, expired or unwanted prescription medications by participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26. Sponsored in part by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Las Cruces Police Department, the program provides residents an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous drugs.
Oct. 16, 2019 The remains of 23 people whose bodies were not claimed will be buried at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Las Cruces, with Jess Williams officiating the non-denominational service.
Doña Ana County Treasurer Eric L. Rodriguez reminds and encourages all property owners to verify their mailing address before Nov. 1, which is the date the office will mail out a property tax bill to owners on record for each property, as of Oct. 7.
