  •  Doña Ana County and the City of Las Cruces will host a public meeting on Monday, October 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the City of Las Cruces City Hall, Room 2007 at 700 North Main Street.

  •   Doña Ana County District 3 Commissioner Benjamin Rawson, along with several Doña Ana County staff members, will host a public meeting to discuss proposed roadway improvements along Baylor Canyon Road and Dripping Springs Road.

     Representatives with the Bureau of Land Management will also be at the meeting to provide preliminary information on the project, and to answer questions from the public.

  • Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley staff and volunteers will facilitate dog, cat, puppy and kitten adoptions this Saturday, Oct. 4. In addition to adoptions from the shelter site, adoptions also will take place at two off-site pet adoption events.  

  • Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators say they have seen a growing trend in the number of reported burglaries since July in certain Doña Ana County communities, and are warning residents to take precautions that could prevent them from becoming a victim of a crime.

    According to the reports, the number of burglaries has nearly tripled in Districts 2 and 4, compared to other districts patrolled by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

  •             The Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office is reminding residents of some important deadlines to remember prior to the November 4, 2014 general election.

                Anyone who is not currently registered to vote and would like to vote in the November election has until 5 p.m. on Oct. 7 to get registered. State law requires that voter registration books be closed by the 28th day prior to the election.


                District 1 Doña Ana County Commissioner Billy G. Garrett will host a public meeting regarding the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Doña Ana County Government Center.

  •             The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is extending a discounted rate for Doña Ana County owners of pit bull terriers to promote responsible dog ownership and reduce the number of puppies that are surrendered to the shelter.



                Applications for four open positions on the Extra Territorial Zoning Commission are being sought by the Doña Ana County Planning and Development Department.

    The term of appointment will be two years. The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners will make the appointments at their Oct. 28 regular meeting.
