  •      The Doña Ana Board of County Commissioners designated the month of Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Doña Ana County, during their Oct. 8 regular meeting.Erlinda Portillo, president, Bellas Artes Sin Fronteras accepts Doña Ana County Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation.          The Commissioners honored the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to our society and culture.  The proclamation was accepted by Erlinda Portillo, president of Bellas Artes Sin Fronteras or fine arts without borders. “Thank you for recognizing this day as it is invaluable, in terms of moving forward and recognizing individuals in our community that have made contributions that had an impact on various areas of our community,” Portillo said.

  •      Most Doña Ana County offices will be closed Monday, October 14, to enable employees to observe the Indigenous Peoples’ (Columbus) Day national holiday.

  •             Dist. 5 Doña Ana County Commissioner Manuel A. Sanchez is reaching out to the communities in Placitas, Radium Springs and Doña Ana, over the next few weeks.
                Seeking to listen and answer constituents’ questions, Sanchez also provides updates on county news and projects. He said he hopes more people join him at these meetings to discuss concerns that are important or urgent to residents in the neighborhoods he represents.

  •             Picacho Hills residents, business owners and property owners along Picacho Hills Drive and Barcelona Ridge Road are invited to a public meeting to discuss a Corridor Safety Assessment of Picacho Hills Drive and Barcelona Ridge Road to assess traffic safety and operations.

  •              A recent vacancy on the Doña Ana County Internal Audit Advisory Committee has opened a potential opportunity for a new board member.

  •             The Doña Ana County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Advisory Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2019, in room 1-117 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 North Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces. 

  •      Doña Ana County Animal Control and Codes Enforcement, along with Planning and Constituent Services representatives will go door-to-door in the Chaparral area, Thursday, Oct. 10.
