  •             About 50 Doña Ana County residents, staff members and community stakeholders met Friday morning with U.S. Census officials to begin collaborations on forming a Complete Count Committee – a group of people in Doña Ana County that will assist in obtaining the most accurate count of residents in 2020.

  •              The first class of the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department Citizen’s Police Academy in 2019 will begin on Saturday, Jan. 5.
    Applicants who were previously interested in the fall 2018 class – which had to be postponed in August because of scheduling conflicts – are automatically enrolled.
                The academy will span eight consecutive Saturdays. Each class will run from 8 a.m. to noon at DASO’s Las Cruces headquarters, 845 N. Motel Blvd.


                Doña Ana County has been made aware of scam emails sent to various constituents recently. Although the messages did not come from the county, the “From” address mimicked a Doña Ana County address. 
                “Please know that it is very easy for scammers to send emails with false “From” addresses,’ said Doña Ana County IT Director Bob Bunting. “Therefore, you should never trust any email solely based on the “From” address.


         Doña Ana County Treasurer Eric L. Rodriguez has announced that his office will accept property-tax payments from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, which is the deadline to pay first-half property taxes before state-mandated interest and penalties begin to accumulate. 

  •             The Doña Ana County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Advisory Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in room 1-117 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 North Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces. 


                Doña Ana County Human Resources Director Deb Weir has been elected by her peers to lead the New Mexico Association of Counties Human Resources Affiliate for the next year.


         United Blood Services and Doña Ana County are coming together for a blood drive on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, in the main rotunda of the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces.


                Noting that the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners passed a Nov. 13 resolution creating a Complete Count Committee in advance of the 2020 U.S. Census, County Manager Fernando R. Macias is seeking participation from a variety of community leaders in Las Cruces, Sunland Park, Anthony Hatch and Mesilla to join the county’s committee.
