  • The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department will auction off more than 40 vehicles to the highest bidders on Saturday, Oct. 13.
     The vehicles range from a 1982 GMC pickup to a 2011 Honda four-door, and were previously owned by convicted repeat DWI offenders. New Mexico law allows for the forfeiture of vehicles driven by people whose licenses have been revoked for driving under the influence.

  •             The Doña Ana County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Advisory Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, in room 1-117 at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 North Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces. 

                Most Doña Ana County offices will be closed Monday, October 8, 2018, to allow employees to observe the Columbus Day holiday. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department will be closed.
    Saturation patrols and anti-DWI checkpoints are planned by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department and other area law-enforcement agencies.    


                Third Judicial District Judge Manuel I. Arrieta has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Anthony Water and Sanitation District (AWSD) against the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office and Bureau of Elections pertaining to a March 20 special mail-in election on the issue of whether to impose additional gross receipt taxes on business operations with the district’s coverage area. 

  •              Deputies, civilian staff, members of the media and Doña Ana County residents got the first glimpse of the newest tool against drunk driving in Doña Ana County Wednesday morning – a state-of-the-art mobile DWI vehicle that will be used at checkpoints and saturation patrols starting as early as December. 


                Doña Ana County has introduced a new line of coupons for use at its solid-waste convenience stations.
                The cost to dump a standard load at the county’s solid-waste convenience stations is $4. The new coupon cards are sold in three denominational increments: $12, $24 and $48. Attendants at the county’s solid-waste convenience stations will punch the coupons each time they are presented.
                Each value has its own color.
