PUBLIC MEETINGS SCHEDULED TO REIGNITE COLONIA REFORM

     A series of public meetings has been scheduled to educate the public on how to help improve conditions within Doña Ana County’s colonias.      

     Topics for discussion include a historical perspective on the Doña Ana County Colonias Initiative, an overview of the entire project, the schedule of upcoming meetings and public discussion on the next steps to engage and lobby legislators for state funding.

     The first meeting was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Vado/del Cerro Community Resource Center. Upcoming meetings will be facilitated at the Hatch Community Resource Center on Monday, Nov. 27; at the Delores Wright Community Resource Center in Chaparral on Wednesday, Nov. 29; and at the Butterfield Community Resource Center on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

     Each meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is scheduled to last about an hour. At least one county commissioner will be in attendance, along with staff.
