APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR COUNTY’S INTERNAL AUDIT COMMITTEE

Doña Ana County seeks qualified applicants willing to serve on its Internal Audit Advisory Committee, which is comprised of five county residents.

Applicants normally have management experience, are certified public accountants, certified internal auditors or business educators. Applicants may also be current city, state or educational institution employees with a background in accounting, finance or auditing.

The internal audit function is designed to strengthen county procedures and emphasize accountability to taxpayers. The Doña Ana County Internal Auditor plans and conducts audits of the internal functions of county operations and reports to the County Manager.  The Internal Audit Advisory Committee works closely with Internal Auditor Ernest Harvin to develop a comprehensive plan for improving efficiency and accountability, offering advice and consultation to help improve the effectiveness of the Internal Auditor's work. The County Manager can subsequently oversee the implementation of the internal audit function.

The Committee will meet monthly to receive input from, give directions to the County’s Internal Auditor about pursuing areas of interest, and hear reports of ongoing audit functions.  Committee members have wide access to county records and documented internal control systems across all departments for review and are asked to serve at least one year.

Application materials include letter of interest, resume and reference letters will be accepted through Oct. 27.  Application materials may be e-mailed to input@donaanacounty.org; faxed to (575) 525-5952; or mailed to Jana Padilla, County Manager’s Office, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces, NM, 88007.
