Doña Ana County

The New Mexico Counties, NMC and the Office of the State Auditor recognized Doña Ana County with a Fiscal Year 2019 Audit & Accountability Award, for dedication to ethical financial practices that safeguard public assets.

“This recognition speaks to the high financial standards Doña Ana County and the Finance Department adhere to, throughout the year,” said Doña Ana County Finance Director Asma Dawood. “We are very proud of the work the team performs and this recognition is a validation of the responsibility we hold as fiscal agents of the public trust.”

Criteria for the award included outstanding work on audits, submitting audits in a timely manner, and having sustained excellence, with high audit opinions.

Doña Ana County has held the high standard of “no findings” in audits conducted by an external, independent agency for nine consecutive years.  In addition, in Fiscal Years 2011, 2016 and 2017, the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor, along with the NMC bestowed its Accountability Award for Large County Audit Achievement award to Doña Ana County.  The County also garnered the Continued Excellence Award in Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019.

Yearly, NMC and New Mexico State Auditor Brian Colón’s office select counties that prove their dedication to ethical financial practices that safeguard their public assets.

All winners of the FY19 Audit & Accountability Awards will be recognized remotely by NMC and Auditor Brian Colón at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, during the closing session of the 2021 NMC Legislative Conference.
