EARLY MORNING HAY FIRE IN VADO

Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a hay fire in the 100 block of Center Valley Road, near Lechuga Road in Vado, just before 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The property’s owners are on site and monitoring the hay stack fire throughout the day and it is being treated as a controlled or agricultural burn.  That means farm workers are standing by with water trucks, tractors and hand tools.

County fire crews from Anthony, Chamberino and Battalion 3 were released from the scene shortly after it was verified the fire was under control and there were no exposures or threats.

No injuries were reported. Residents are urged not to call 911, as Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority, MVRDA is aware of the fire and the safety measures in place. Although the fire is rather large and produced a large cloud of smoke produced, the fire is under control.
