Doña Ana County Summer Student Internship Program

Doña Ana County is proud to announce that, in cooperation with the New Mexico Public Education Department, we will be sponsoring the 2nd annual Summer Enrichment Internship Program starting May 26, 2022. The goal of the program is to provide high school students with the opportunity to participate in high-quality internships in government agencies, businesses, and local organizations.  The County will place students at internship sites based on the student’s interests and the needs of the organization.

Student Interns

  • Program is for high school students fifteen (15) years of age and older.
  • Competitive pay rate of $13 per hour, up to $2600.00 for the summer.
  • Program is part-time, typically 20 hours per week, not to exceed 200 hours for the length of the program.
  • Required Orientation, Location: 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces:
    • Thursday, May 26 at 2 p.m.
    • Friday, May 27 at 9 a.m.
    • Friday, May 27 at 2 p.m.
    • Students only need to attend one of the three sessions offered.
    • You must bring required I-9 supporting documents to the orientation.

*The goal of the program is to accept all eligible students who apply. If the student applies and fits the qualifications, they will be accepted. Students will receive an automatic email from the system once the application is submitted. An email notification will not be received if the application is not complete or has not been submitted. Remember to check spam and junk mail for emails. Notifications may be blocked if school email addresses are used. School servers may not allow emails from external sources.
Student applicants will be contacted by May 25 by their coordinator and given their work assignments. After that, the student will need to bring the necessary I9 documents to one of the orientation sessions prior to starting their work assignment.

  • The County will hire internship coordinators to facilitate the program and support the student interns and their internship supervisor and organization.
  • Required Orientation, 845 N. Motel Blvd., Las Cruces:
    • Tuesday, May 24 at 4 p.m.
    • You must bring required I-9 supporting documents to the orientation.
