Pre-Payment of Property Taxes

Beginning January 2, 2020, the County Treasurer’s Office will be accepting advance payments for real estate, business, and personal property taxes for the next unbilled tax year.

The following conditions apply:

  • All of the current and previous tax years must be paid in full.
  • Payments may be remitted in any dollar amount up to the total of the previous year’s tax bill.
    • Over payments will be refunded to the taxpayer after the tax bills are issued.
  • Pre-payments can only be made in person or by mail
    • Pre-payments are not available online, by phone, or at convenience payment locations.
  • Pre-payments require a written or verbal acknowledgment.
    • Written acknowledgment by mail may be in a letter or specified in the Memo section of the check. 
  • Taxpayer is still responsible for any balance due on the account by December 10, to avoid penalty and interest.
  • Pre-payments are only valid for the currently assessed year.
    • Ex. You cannot start to pre-pay your 2020 taxes until January 2, 2020.
  • A tax bill will still be mailed out. Your pre-payment amount shall reflect on the balance due.


*Disclaimer: By pre paying your property taxes, you acknowledge that your advanced payments are being held in suspense until the tax roll is issued. You may request a refund at any time before the payment is applied, however once the payment is posted your payment has been officially made. The payment date will reflect as of the posting date, usually this will occur in the last week of September.
