Utilities Office
Doña Ana County has undertaken an ambitious and far-reaching initiative to provide wastewater service to rural residents of the county, particularly in areas where the water table is close to the surface. Using grant funding and federal/state partnerships, the county has taken thousands of septic systems off line from the Sierra County border to the U.S./Mexico border. State-of-the-art wastewater treatment facilities are now in place, serving dozens of rural communities at reasonable monthly rates. These systems protect precious groundwater, provide infrastructure for economic development and position Doña Ana County for managed growth well into the future.
The Liquid Waste Division is now managed by the Utilities Department (647-7142).
